YMCA Camp Collins Programs
Y Camp is Special ...
The YMCA was founded on Christian principles in 1844, and the principles of Love, Respect, Honesty, Responsibility and Service are stressed in every activity we do at camp. Each day begins with a chapel that establishes the theme for the day. For example, Monday's theme is Love, Tuesday's is Respect, Wednesday's is Honesty and so on. Each day ends in the cabin with a special time called "embers" where the counselor and campers reflect on the day and look forward to the rest of their camp experience.
All resident campers have the opportunity to participate in the YMCA Rag program. In this program, each camper sets a year-long goal that helps them make better choices and improve themselves. The participant then takes part in a special ceremony that assists them in remembering their challenge. A special rag is given as an outward symbol of an inward goal. This is one of the programs that makes YMCA camp so special!
Staff Leadership
Staff at YMCA Camp Collins know how important camp can be to a child's development. Dedicated to the safety and growth of campers, staff work hard to provide a positive experience for every child in their care. All staff go through a challenging selection process that includes two interviews, multiple reference checks and a multi-state background check. Staff participate in extensive training, receive support from a committed leadership team and are encouraged to develop and refine their skills in this positive environment. YMCA Camp Collins staff live by the values of love, respect, honesty, responsibility and service and support their campers as they learn to do the same.
